 "Not durable enough" 2010-08-15
By Darrel
I got this external hard drive because it was supposed to be fast. It is in fact fast enough to run music and any files out of it, and without lag. For that it gets the bump up to two stars. My major problem with it is that the only time I moved it from my desk in the six months I've owned it, it broke. I was transferring files to my laptop in the other room, it fell off my nightstand that is about 2.5 feet tall, and it hasn't worked since. I lost all of my information. The most important thing about an external hard drive is to have peace of mind knowing your data is safe. This product failed for me.

"An Obsolete Product Sold As New" 2010-08-13
By Prisoner of Planet Moron (Palm Harbor, FL United States)
I recently purchased this external hard drive from Amazon to use with my Windows 7 system. A major consideration was the fact that well-regarded backup software (Retrospect) was included.

Now that I have installed and used the HW/SW, I find that this version of Retrospect (version 7.6) does not work with Windows 7.

Roxio (which provides support for EMC Retrospect) informs me that a Windows 7 version of Retrospect exists, but I will need to pay $29 for an "upgrade" to Retrospect 7.7.

After contacting Iomega directly, I received the same response.

It is inexcusable for a product to be sold as new when it does not support current operating environments and when there is no disclaimer to this effect.

Several communications with Roxio and Iomega have verified the company policy and have been completely fruitless. I plan to avoid Iomega and Retrospect products in the future.

"Slow, Loud and just annoying" 2010-08-10
By Joe
I have gone through a couple external hard drives in my time being as I am a video editor. I was looking for a fast and large capacity hard drive so decided to go with this one even though it was usb not firewire. It looks nice and I had a good experience with an iomega in the past. Unfortunately this turned out to be a very disappointing purchase. It is soo slow for 7200rpm, very loud clicking noise when using it. Definitely do not recommend for video editing (go with firewire connection)

 "Terrible" 2010-08-07

Setup was fine, after less than three month of use and it was probably turned on ten times the drive has stopped working. Now I have to return the drive to Amazon. Great,

 "User Interface Needs Work" 2010-08-07
By William Cely (Seal Rock, OR USA)
The drive was easy to setup and the software installed without problems. My issue is with the interface. I am fairly experienced in software and have done coding but it took an hour to understand how to set up regular scheduled backups and understand what the program wanted when it was asking for "Scripts." It is working well but this in not for the beginner. I am sure there are easier programs that do the job just as well.
