All I can say is, if you're going to use the iomega eGo, you'd better back up your backups elsewhere! I bought this external hard drive to back up my Mac data using Time Machine. After ~5 uses, it completely died for no apparent reason. The iomega customer service system is appalling: you have to pay $25 for every incident if you want tech support and $900 for data recovery -- even if it's their malfunctioning product that's the problem!
They gave me a replacement hard drive of the same kind which was refurbished, but my data was gone since I didn't want to pay $900. Regardless, after another ~7 uses, the replacement iomega eGo just died. Completely died during a backup, again no reason whatsoever. And no customer support to be had.
Un-frikkin-believable! So much so that after years of being a silent Amazon customer, I was finally compelled to write a review and warn all you good folks out there. I'll be telling all my friends the same: never to buy an iomega hard drive if they value their data.

It has completed all of my needs. Is a secure hard disk, has multiple ways of transfer (USB and 2 different Firewires) and is sleek.

I've been using this to back up my Mac for about six months and have never had a problem. It's ready to go seconds after I plug it into the computer, and the 800 Fire Wire is lightning fast - backups are complete in a matter of minutes. I've also experimented using it as a regular drive to store documents, photos etc., and the performance was great. If you're looking for something cheaper than AirPort, look no further!
