The drive works fine. The only thing I notice is the extremely slow write speed. It is the slowest of the three external hard drives that I have owned.

Bought it because of the price and a design that complimented my iMac. I am a semi-pro photographer and needed this to handle a ton of raw photos from recent shoots. Worked great with my computer, looked good on the desk. Copied my files over and cleared them from my computer/memory cards. Started on doing dvd backups of the files, and before I could get halfway through the $*&@ing piece of @!*& completely died on me. Started making grinding noises and vibrating oddly. Everything was lost.
I wish I would have read these reviews before buying - there is clearly a high rate of failure on this model and the manufacturer isn't doing much about it. Avoid at all costs, spend an extra $20 and get a superior product from another brand.

I can connect this external hard drive into one computer, dump data on to it (very quickly), eject it, and plug it into another computer without any problems. It even doesn't need to be reformatted with Macs. Overall, definitely a product worth the money.

Bought this to replace an OLD 20GB external drive. Requires a power supply, and the USB interface isn't much faster than my old drive, but it works flawlessly, and provide plenty of room to grow.

I brought this thing and like two weeks later it died on me. I put all my info on it now it will cost $1,500 to $2,000 to get it back.Love Amazon hate Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive.
