It was easy to install, just took it out the box and plugged it in. So far I've saved a lot of video and photo files on it. That was the main reason for getting this. I was told by a sales person at apple that a firewire drive was actually better for saving video files because it's a faster connection. Found that out the hard way when things started crashing on my macbook when I was trying to edit video on Final Cut Express.

I had the Iomega MiniMax Hard Drive up and running in under five minutes. The product ships with FireWire and USB cables which makes installation simple - no need to order separate cables for the new drive. It's sturdy and sleek design means I can hide it under other hardware. The only time I know it's there is when I'm backing up, and it's so quiet that if I have music playing, it's unnoticeable. A great product for a great price.

I bought this a year back. It fits on top of my apple extreme router as if it's made by Apple. Worked great for my time machine for the first six months. After that I had to turn it off once in a while as it was loosing the connection. Initially I thought my Apple router was at fault. However now I have to turn it off and on almost every few days. I wish it was as reliable as it looks. Another feature I liked was that it provides a built in hub.

As is inevitable, I was running out of hard drive space for all the photos and music I'd been accumulating on my Mac. After some research, I settled on this Iomega 1TB drive that is specifically designed to work with a Mac Mini. It is a great complement to the mini on my desk both visually and in performance.
Set up was as easy as plugging it in. I chose the Firewire 400 vs. the 800 as my older mini has only the Firewire 400 and USB slots. The drive is quiet while idle and only a minor sound when it's writing. Just enough to let you know it's doing something. I was able to easily partition it into three sectors for my own needs and so far (about two weeks) it's been working flawlessly.
My only very minor annoyance is how bright the light is on the front of the unit. I ended up covering it with a double layer of masking tape to dim it!
Very happy with the drive and I see it as a good value.

Used only the firewire but after the `apparent' problem (read) with using both, I tried both. Just needed to connect firewire first, establish it's going well and then plug in the usb onto the system and then to another usb (I used a usb 2) disk.
